During an intelligence-based operation, the mastermind and his accomplice of a suicide bombing were arrested in Karachi near Umar Goth Chowk. The investigation revealed Javed’s involvement and Gul Nisa’s facilitation. Shah Fahad was identified through fingerprints due to the destruction caused during the explosion.
The suspects had purchased the vehicle used for the attack, which cost Rs7.1 million in cash from a showroom in Karachi. They arrived in Karachi on October 4 and stayed at a hotel before carrying out the attack near Karachi Airport on October 6. The Chinese convoy was targeted at around 11pm as they were leaving the airport.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts of CTD and Sindh police for their work in uncovering the network behind the attack, promising a Rs50m reward and recommending them for prestigious medals. Three suspects remain at large: Danish, Gul Rehman, and Bashir Zaid. The arrested Javed is a student of history at Karachi University.
