Five people were injured on Monday when a gas explosion occurred in a sewer in Karachi’s Bilal Colony, police officials said. “The slab above the sewer caved in,” according to Central Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui‘ statement about the incident that took place along a footpath at North Karachi’s junction 5JD, near where several gas lines run.
The explosion occurred after gas filled a sewer line running along the road” and caused significant damage to infrastructure in Bilal Colony.
The injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Bilal Colony police were present at the spot, while relevant authorities had also been summoned.
