ATC Grants Interim Bail to Four PTI Leaders

An antiterrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted interim bail to four Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders in cases pertaining to May 9 violence. It was at the outset of the hearing, when Firdos Shamim Naqvi, Khurram Sher Zaman, Raja Azhar and Muhammad Faizan submitted applications before ATC judge through their counsel Shujat Ali and Nazeerullla seeking pre-arrest bail in May 9 cases.

Last month, the court cancelled bail bonds in these cases and issued non-bailable warrants for arrest of top party leaders from Karachi after dismissing condonation applications with a surety bond. The interim order has been granted until December 9, as per which a hearing will be conducted.

Alamgir Sent to Prison

Meanwhile, the investigating officer probing May 9 case produced Alamgir Khan Mehsud before ATC judge at Central Prison Karachi and he was sent on judicial remand by court’s order. His counsel also submitted a post-arrest bail application which is set to be heard as per date fixed for December 9 in the interim hearing of PTI leaders’ case, published in Dawn, December 7th, 2024
