KARACHI: A child died while his six family members fainted after inhaling fumes of insecticide sprayed at their Defence Housing Authority home on Thursday. Police reported the incident, according to Dawn newspaper’s report from Dec 13th,2024
Dr Zia-ud-Din Sheikh had his house located near Khayaban-i-Seher, Phase-VI sprayed with insecticide which led all seven family members including a five year old child to fall unconscious. A testament to the harmful effects of chemical misuse was seen when one individual tragically lost their life on arrival at South City Hospital in Clifton while others remain hospitalized, reportedly stable but critically ill as per Darakshan police SHO Shahid Khan’s update.
Dr Zia-ud-Din Sheikh is the owner of Sir Syed Hospital in Qayyumabad; it remains unclear if his knowledge or experience with chemical safety could have prevented this tragedy. The affected family insists that the fumigation was an accident and they do not wish to pursue legal action against anyone.
