Elephant Sonia’s Autopsy and Burial

Elephant Sonia, who was found dead a day before in her Safari Park enclosure, was buried after a team of vets carried out an autopsy. The following details were reported:

  • Dr Ghulam Mustafa led the veterinary examination that lasted five hours.
    • A number of samples from Sonia’s body for analysis was collected by him and his colleagues, which included Edhi volunteers assisting them along with one other vet — Dr Amir Ismail.
  • The Safari Park Director mentioned the report would take about two weeks to conclude its findings on her death’s cause but did not disclose any details then as of December 10, 2024.
