Jan 11 Set as Final Date for Malir Expressway Project Inauguration by Sindh CM

Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, set Januan 11 (not January) as the final date to inaugurate the first segment of the Malir Expressway project that runs from Korangi Creek Avenue to near Kathore.

This decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by CM at New Sindh Secretariat, where the project’s final progress has been reviewed, said a press statement issued.

Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani and other officials attended this important meeting which aim to complete Malir Expressway as soon possible for commuters in Karachi city. This will reduce travel time significantly by avoiding traffic congestions that are faced during peak hours on busy roads of metropolis like Shahrah Faisal, M.M Morri Road etc.,

The statement said: “A toll plaza would manage the traffic flow charging Rs100 for cars and jeeps whereas heavy vehicles will be charged with a fee of $200″ The CM emphasized on efficient traffic management during this meeting. He directed officials quickly resolve any operational challenges in order that, as soon possible works may continue unhindered to ensure timely completion project activities.”

Project Details: Malir Expressway will have a ramp for immediate traffic flow and flyover from Korangi which is expected be completed within two months. It’s an important step towards easing the daily commute in Karachi city, especially during peak hours when heavy congestions take place on busy roads of metropolis like Shahrah Faisal etc.,

The project will only allow commercial vehicles such as buses and cars along with jeeps to use this expressway. Motorcycles & rickshaws are not allowed in order to maintain the safety standards at a high level,” said Asad Zamin, Transport Secretary.

Law Enforcement: The CM directed law enforcement agencies for timely deployment of district and traffic police officers across key entry points including Jam Sadiq Interchange EBM Shah Faisal interchanges. Traffic Police will patrol the expressway continuously in vehicles, to maintain a steady flow during peak hours as well ensuring safety standards at high level.”

Parking Regulation: In order that smooth operation may continue uninterruptedly and traffic congestion shall not be faced by commuters along Malir Expressway. The CM declared the stretch from Shah Faisal Interchange to Shah Faisal Colony Bridge as a no-parking zone.”

Conclusion: In summary, this significant infrastructure development project will significantly reduce travel time between Korangi Creek Avenue and Kathore by avoiding traffic congestion on busy roads of metropolis. It is an important link for commuters along with providing safety standards at a high level while driving through the expressway.”
