Four suspected robbers gunned down in Karachi’s Clifton ‘encounter’

Four alleged robbers shot dead by police: Clifton encounter ends with the death of a former policeman and two SSG officers killed during robbery attempt at Defence. DIG-South Syed Asad Raza, alongside Counter-Terrorism Department’s intelligence wing conducted an action that wounded four bank dacoits during gunfire exchange after raiding their hideout where they had been holding hostages and commando Mohammed Saeed who was a security guard of the firm. Four pistols were recovered with bullets, along with two stolen bikes from Clifton area which have links to previous robberies attempted in other areas such as Defence.

Former SSG officer and retired policeman among dead suspects: A testament to their criminal past including the killing of another former commando – Mohammed Saeed, who was a security guard with one firm when they tried to resist arrest after he drew money from his company by force in Clifton area.

This is not an exhaustive list. Four alleged robbers found dead at Snappy checking point on service road near Nulla (drain) of Block-9, including former policeman and commando Mohammed Saeed who was present during the encounter but succumbed to his injuries while in transit.

According to DIG Syed Asad Raza: Four men were involved — Abdul Sattar (27 cases), Seri Chand, Raj Kumar and Nawab Ahmed with multiple arrests over time including a recent one for allegedly attacking Mohammed Balwani in Defence. They have been linked to numerous robberies across Karachi; DIG-South Syed Asad Raza highlights the ongoing criminal activities of these individuals, who had not only robbed but also murdered two traders during their previous attempts at snatching cash from them in Clifton and Defence.

The aftermath: A heavy loss for hostage firm with three killed including SSG commando Mohammed Saeed as well, he was one of the four suspects who were shot dead on Nov 6 while holding a gun to his head during snatching an attempt from their office in Tauheed Commercial Area.

Clifton SP Majida Halepota’s statement: She emphasizes that not only had these men killed before but also robbed banks across the city, pointing out one of them as a former policeman with multiple prior arrests for robberies in Shikarpur district and expressing concern over their criminal activities.
