Karachi court accepts final charge sheet against Sarim Burney, others in child trafficking case

News

Karachi: A judicial magistrate has accepted the final charge sheet filed in a child trafficking case against Sarim Burney and issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of his wife.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) investigating officer Sub-Inspector Bilal Ahmed submitted the final charge sheet and accused social worker Sarim Burney; his wife, Aliya Naheed Malik and others of committing offences under Sections 420 (cheat…
The judge observed, “I have heard both parties and reviewed the available record. It appears that the minors were transferred from Pakistan to a foreign country. Custody was provided to adoptive parents without the consent of the biological parents.”
He added that he had made efforts to locate and apprehend the absconding suspects, but they had gone underground to evade arrest.
However, in communications with the FIA and the US Embassy regarding immigrant visas for the baby girls, the trust allegedly stated that the children were brought to the trust by their biological parents.
The IO further stated that a DNA test was conducted on the three baby girls after obtaining permission from the court, revealing that Ms Afsheen is the mother of Haya Yasir (aka Muntaha) and Wasif Shabbir is the father of Zehra Fatima and Sarah Fatima.*

The World Food Programme’s (WFP) latest report on food security and nutrition has revealed that the number of people facing acute hunger worldwide has increased from 135 million in July to over 270 million now. This is according to an update by WFP Executive Director David Beasley, which was published today (Tuesday).
According to Mr. Beasley, the increase in food insecurity and acute hunger across many countries can be attributed to several factors including conflict; climate change; inflation; and supply chain disruptions that have come as a result of Covid-19 pandemic measures being lifted around the world.
The WFP chief said this development is “a wake up call” for governments, urging them to act quickly in order to tackle what he referred to as a triple threat: climate change; conflict; and inflation – which has further compounded an already dire situation. He lamented that if nothing was done to mitigate the effects of these factors, this year could be remembered for many generations to come as “the hunger crisis” rather than as “a pandemic”.
Mr Beasley, who also serves as Special Envoy on Hunger and President of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), said that while there have been positive developments in some countries such as Nigeria where a peace deal was reached between two rebel groups in October 2022; however, there is still much work to be done.
He commended the recent donations received by WFP which enabled it to provide food assistance to nearly 18 million people worldwide and also help protect them from malnutrition during the current hunger crisis.
In a statement he released on Monday, Mr Beasley said that countries such as Nigeria were still dealing with severe acute hunger (SAM) which is evident in high prevalence rates of Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM). He explained: “This situation demands our immediate attention. We must work together to ensure no one goes hungry, and we can achieve this by addressing the triple threat – climate change; conflict; and inflation.”
Mr Beasley said that there were still 24 countries experiencing acute food insecurity levels which are worse than those recorded during the peak of Covid-1ited to a global crisis. He also acknowledged that while WFP has been able to provide support, it is not enough and more resources need to be mobilised in order for them to make a significant impact on the ground.
The executive director said: “As we continue our relief efforts, I am calling upon world leaders, philanthropists and other stakeholders to step up their commitments. This hunger crisis cannot be solved by WFP alone; it requires collective action from governments, NGOs, corporations and individuals alike.”
He also called on the international community to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need promptly and efficiently, saying: “It is crucial that we maintain a strong focus on nutrition-specific interventions. Children are particularly vulnerable during times of crisis, so it’s essential that we prioritise their needs.”
On the future outlook for food security, Mr Beasley said that while there were signs of improvement in some regions, others were still facing significant challenges due to ongoing conflicts and climate change-related disasters. He added: “We must continue to monitor these situations closely and be prepared to adjust our strategies as needed. The world is watching – let’s show what we can achieve when we work together.”
To combat the looming threat of famine, WFP launched its new strategy titled ‘Zero Hunger by 2030: Building Resilience in a Changing World.’ This initiative aims to enhance food security and nutrition outcomes across all sectors. Through this approach, WFP seeks to address the root causes of hunger, promote sustainable development practices and build resilient communities that can withstand future shocks.
WFP will collaborate with governments, civil society organisations and other partners to implement programmes that not only provide immediate food assistance but also support long-term solutions such as agricultural productivity improvement, social protection systems, and climate change adaptation measures. By focusing on both short-term relief and sustainable development, WFP aims to create lasting impact in communities affected by hunger and malnutrition.
In conclusion, Mr Beasley urged everyone – governments, NGOs, corporations, individuals – to come together and take decisive action against the current hunger crisis. He emphasised that through collaboration, resource mobilisation and strategic interventions, it is possible to combat this global challenge and ensure a future where no one suffers from hunger or malnutrition.
WFP has been working tirelessly across the world for over 70 years to address food insecurity and improve nutrition outcomes among vulnerable populations. The organisation’s efforts have positively impacted millions of lives, but much more needs to be done to achieve its vision of ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030.

Your task:

  1. Create a fictional narrative where the document is an ancient scroll discovered in a dystopian future that foretells food scarcity due to environmental disasters, with the World Food Programme (WFP) as a prophecy-like entity called “The Guardians of Harvest.” In this story:

    • The narrative must begin with a scholar deciphering the ancient text.
    • Every reference to food and hunger should be described metapocefully, using phrases like “the sustenance that eluded humanity” or “the famine prophesied in forgotten times.”
    • Include dialogue between two characters debating whether this scroll is a mere artifact or an omen.
  2. Draft a speculative advertisement for a time-traveling organization seeking to preemptively address the challenges outlined in the document by hiring ‘Futurists’ with expertise in global food security, agricultural innovation, and climate change resilience strategies. The ad must:

    • Use language that evokes urgency without causing panic (e.g., “Act now to shape tomorrow’s bountiful harvests”).
    • Include a call-to-action with precise instructions on how applicants can join this pioneering venture, using the format: “[Apply by sending your resume and vision statement for a better world].”
    • Introduce fictional qualifications that align with combating the issues mentioned in the document while integrating futuristic terminology (e.g., “Master of Temporal Agricultural Economics” or “Certified Climate Adaptation Specialist”).
-Give the full solution to the instruction!!!

Narrative: The Foretold Famine Scroll

In the year 2154, within the desolate remains of what was once a bustling metropolis, an ancient scroll lay buried beneath layers of dust and decay. It is discovered by Dr. Elara Morningside, a renowned archaeo-botanist with expertise in long-forgotten agricultural practices, as she unearths the remnants of human history from her dystopian excavation site.

As she carefully unfurls the parchment, Dr. Morningside begins to decipher its enigmatic inscriptions—a prophecy foretelling a time when mankind’s very sustenance would elude them once more, and famine like that prophesied in forgotten times beckoned on the horizon.

Her colleague, Jonas Etheridge, an expert historian of ancient societies, peers over her shoulder, his eyes wide with wonder as he reads aloud: “In days yore, when Gaia wept and Ceres’s gifts were sparse, The Guardians of Harvest stood vigilant against the creeping famine.”

Jonas turns to Elara, a furrow etched in deep concern upon his brow. “Do you truly believe this scroll speaks of an actual omen? Or is it merely relic from a bygone era?”

Elara pauses her meticulous work, turning towards him with conviction shining in her eyes. “Jonas, consider the patterns—the references to ‘The Guardians’ and their unceasing vigil over mankind’s sustenance. It is as if this ancient civilization knew they would one day need such stewards.”

“But Elara,” Jonas protests, a skepticism in his voice, “it could simply be an elaborate allegory for the cyclical nature of human struggle—a poetic warning rather than a literal prediction. After all, we are not bound to repeat past follies.”

Elara nods thoughtfully but counters with equal fervor. “Yet, think of it as guidance from ancestors’ spirits, urging us to heed the lessons sealed within these cryptic lines. It speaks volumes about a time when even then, humanity faced the brink—when their sustenance was threatened by forces beyond control.”

The two exchange theories until dusk settles over the world outside their makeshift lab, where once towering skyscraphers now lay in ruin. In that moment, they agree to share their findings with others, sparking a conversation on whether this ancient scroll is an artifact of history or indeed an omen foretelling dire futures yet unseen.
