Karachi: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has stated that 87% of work for constructing a new canal from Hub Dam to supply water to Karachi is completed.
-
By August 2025, it will be possible to supply 100 million gallons per day (MDG) of water to the citizens through this canal.
- The current canal supplying water from Hub Dam to Karachi was created between 45 and 46 years ago and is facing leakage and seepage issues, which prevent it from providing its full capacity of 100 MGDs of water.
- To resolve the city’s water shortages quickly, a new canal from Hub Dam to Karachi was planned by the provincial government. This not only ensures a supply of 100 million MDG water but will also repair and enhance the old canal for additional water distribution in various areas of the city.
- The earthworks for the new canal are nearly finished, with the project rapidly approaching completion.
-
He congratulated the staff working on the Hub Canal project and encouraged them to maintain their dedication to complete this task.
-
Present during the occasion were Deputy Parliamentary Leader of the City Council Dil Muhammad, Jumman Darwan, and other leaders from the Pakistan Peopinas Parties.
