Sit-ins to continue until protests in KP end

The religiopolitical Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) on Thursday night expanded its sit-in across the metropolis against Parachinar killings by blocking almost all main arteries, as reported by officials, witnesses, and organizers. The demonstrators protest an incident involving two people being killed and later decapitated after being waylaid in Bagan area of Kurram on their path towards Parachinar.

The MWM staged sit-ins to show solidar02 with the heirs of victims, while also protesting violent clashes claiming over 100 lives since November in Karachi’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s region. The expanded demonstrations have caused significant traffic problems for commuters and disrupted daily life on Thursday night as sit-ins were organized along the main Sharea Faisal, near National Highway – Malir 15, University Road etc., which are crucial arteries in Karachi cityscape.
Karachi Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Police Ahmed Nawaz Cheema informed Dawn.com that citizens faced difficulties due to the sit-ins. As traffic police provided alternative routes and made deployments on both day and night shifts, they ensured smooth flow amidst chaos.
At around 9:40pm Karachi Traffic Police updated people about slow movement of vehicles along Nishtar Road, Lasbela Chowk, Albela Chowk due to sit-ins in Nazimabad.

In response to the ongoing struggle for justice and betterment of lives back home, MWM central leader Allama Hasan Zafar Naqvi expressed that “for last 90 days roads are closed causing a shortage essential goods & medicines.” Furthermore, he mentioned about hosting jirga in Parachinar.
He questioned who presented the Shia-Sunni conflict and criticized KP Chief Minister and local administration for their lack of competence. He argued that if any problems caused by sit-ins are there then it’s government’ end responsibility to resolve them, bringing into focus inconsistencies in governance between Islamabad & Parachinar.
His statement “Is Shehbaz Sharif the prime minister only for Islamabad and Lahore?” was a strong critique against attributing full blame solely on KP government. He announced that MWM will continue sit-ins until people of Parachinar end their protest in KP.
