A young nurse was rescued by police after being allegedly imprisoned at her own home.
Quaidabad Superintendent of Police Farasat Shah informed that Naz Fatima, who works as a nurse and is also a resident student in the Faculty of Medicine Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) was confined against her will to live with her paternal family. Her father had allegedly imposed punishments on her for wanting marriage by choice – shaving off her head, he claimed it as justified under their belief that she’d been abused before in a previous relationship where the husband had physically assaulted and sexually harassed his girlfriend prior to getting married. The case was investigated when Naz Fatima’s parents separated seven months ago with all four siblings – including her mother, who has now moved into their own home together after living separately from father for some time on end due because of this issue in a rented house in Quaidabad’s Green Town.
“Naz Fatima informed the police that she had been beaten up and forced to move back with her family,” said SHO Farasat Shah, who added more details about their living conditions at time being confined together.”On December 12th (she came forward), Naz told us they were again abused – as father beat all of them repeatedly. The following day on Dec 13rd the situation worsened when relatives including uncle also joined in beating her and sisters inside their mother’s house, which made it impossible for family to even continue living there.”
Naz Fatima’s Story
The police managed through an intense interrogation process after visiting home with a team on December 20th afternoon when they discovered the horrific state of things that befell her and sisters while staying at friend’s house during previous days. They heard about how father, uncle Kaleem Husain along other male relatives came stormed into their place in Green Town’s residence without any prior warning or consent to abuse them physically – all four were subjected by these assailants including Naz Fatima who experienced extreme pain due being shaved off her head after repeated beating till she was barefoot with torn clothes and unable move freely inside rooms.
