KARACHI: A city administration has honored those who have been instrumental for the development, security and welfare of Karachi with an inaugural ceremony. Their contributions are celebrated by presenting Tamgha-i-Karachi awards. The award gala was organized at Khaliqdina Hall where Mayor Murtaza Wahab presented these prestigious honors to families who had given their utmost for the city’s progress, including martyrs of fire department and distinguished individuals from various fields such as education, literature, and social work.

  • Intellectual Professor Jaimal Naqvi received recognition alongside artist Durriya Kazi in artistry.
  • Social activist Fatima Majid is also among the honored for her service to society at large.
  • Author Saima Saleem added a literary touch, while seven dedicated firefighters – Khalid Shehzad, Rashid Naeem, Nav­eed Iqbal, Muha­mmad Abid, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Sohail and Muhammad Mohsin — were remembered for their ultimate sacrifice.
