Strong Winds in Karachi Due to Northeast Monsoon Season Wind Gusts Expected on December 24-25, According to Sardar Sarfraz Chief Meteorologist

As the city braces for colder weather and winter showers starting from Monday. The temperature will dip considerably throughout this week as cold air masses spread over Pakistan’s southwestern parts during these cooler months according to meteorologists in Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta [] PMD reported on Friday that wind speeds are expected between 25 and 35 km/h.
In Karachi, the city is set for strong gusty northeast monsoon season which will continue till December 25 according to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz [
]. The cold wave has already brought single-digit temperatures in some areas of Pakistan this month including Quetta with a record low temperature between 9 and -5°C, Kalat and Zhob at around four degrees below zero while Ziarat recorded an exceptionally low minimum reading of just seven points.
Lahore received its first winter rain on Monday which is considered to be the beginning of Pakistan’s rainy season []. The city saw light showers overnight accompanied by a drop in temperature from 28 degrees Celsius down to around 16 while Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) recorded temperatures between nine and eleven points.

]. Residents are advised to prepare for colder nights ahead while staying updated on weather alerts in Pakistan which is expected to experience cold air masses and heavy rainfall until the end of December.
