A teenage vendor was killed at a weekly bazaar in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Hadeed area on Wednesday, triggering an hours-long blockade on the main National Highway near Steel Town. Official sources reported that this incident occurred due to a scuffle between two vendors over installing push-carts at Budh bazaar in Phase-II of Gulshan-i-Hadeed.
According to Saeed Rind, Malir Superintendent of Police: “The suspect then took out a knife and stabbed Zahid Ali Mirani. The teenager suffered critical injuries.”
“This incident angered area residents who blocked the highway near Steel Town while carrying Mirani’s coffin, demanding immediate arrest of the suspect,” Rind told Dawn.com.

PTI leader Dr Inam Siyal vowed to continue blockade until killer’s arrest, while Sanan Quresh said an innocent teenager has been killed.
“Kashif Abbasi arrived at the spot and engaged in talks with protesters. He assured that raids were being conducted to capture suspect,” Rind stated.
No lanes of highway from Steel Town Mor will be open after 3pm until late evening, as per him.
“Traffic coming towards Karachi was diverted through Port Qasim inside roads. Traffic going to Thatta also got same route at the roundabout,” Rind told Dawn. He requested protesters for vacating highway by evening and assured smooth flow of traffic.
“Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of sit-in at National Highway. Directed city police chief to report on this incident along with addressing grievances,” Channa told Dawn.
