A young trader was shot dead by robbers on New M.A. Jinnah Road on Sunday evening, police said. Jamshed Quarters SHO Imtiaz Husain Shah stated that a single bullet wound in the chest claimed Hasan Arif’s life while he resisted robbery at his shop near Islamia College.
“The body was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for post-mortem examination.”
Despite attempts by authorities, relatives of Hasan took away the corpse before medico-legal formalities could be completed.
“His wedding was fixed for Dec 12,” his family shared.
During a Sindhi Culture Day rally in Gulistan, robbers targeted the shop where Hasan and others worked. Upon resistance by an employee named Hasan Arif (22), they fired shots leading to fatalities as well as injuries.
“Police sources said that a Sindhi Culture Day rally was passing through the area when the incident took place.”
Investigators are awaiting relatives of victims, Waheed Akhtar and Nabil Javed, to file an FIR. They’re also seeking CCTV footage from local businesses for insights into the events that unfolded.
