As sit-ins continue across the country, traffic issues persist in Karachi where protests have been ongoing for five days. The Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) called nationwide protests to show solidar04321f98acb67c5d;
in line with the people of Parachinar, who are staging a sit-in since December 20. The demonstrations erupted following an incident where two individuals were killed and later decapitated after being stopped on their way to Parachinar in Kurram’s Bagan area. Multiple sit-ins organized on MWM’s call continued throughout Karachi for the fifth consecutive day, leading to blockades of key thoroughfares resulting in a traffic nightmare across all seven districts and causing hardships among people as multiple points are now being blocked:

  • Drigh Road near Sharea Faisal is open with slowed traffic due to closures on both sides.
  • Main M. A. Jinnah Road, Abul Hasan Ispahani Road by Abbas Town, Five Star Chowrangi in North Nazimabad among others are continuing demonstrations as per the official list provided by officials and organizers of various locations:

In Lahore, MWM has been consistently holding a sit-in outside the Lahore Press Club for over a week with representatives including Allama Ahmad Iqbal Rizvi and others at its helm expressing their grievances. Concurrently in Rawalpindi protests are occurring from Liaquat Bagh Chowk to Committee Chowk, organized by the Tehreek-i-Nifaz-i-Fiqh-i-Jafariya (TNFJ) Regional Council as part of a broader Day of Martyrs and Oppressed commemoration.
Following decades-old land disputes which have sparked deadly tribal clashes since the attack on a convoy that claimed 52 lives, additional casualties continue to mount due to these unrests in Kurram as well. Food and medicine shortages are reported with hundreds of children affected leading to airlifts from the district by helicopter service for medical aid provided by governmental efforts:

  • At least 130 deaths since last month, primarily among tribal clashes between families fighting over land disputes according to reports. (The News International)
