Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Inaugurates Updated Computer Laboratory at Department of Statistics
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Jan, 2025) Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi(KU) Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi inaugurated the updated computer laboratory at the Department of Statistics on Monday.
Addressing faculty members and students: “Investment in education and research is seen as an investment globally but, unfortunately in Pakistan, it is often viewed as a burden.” He emphasized that “Pakistan cannot achieve its goals without investing in education” to progress towards becoming a knowledge-based society.
Nations like Japan have learned from their challenges; Germany’s and China’s success stories serve as examples for Pakistan, he noted. Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi also pointed out that the state often hesitates to take responsibility which welfare organizations tend to fill in gaps with appreciation directed towards alumni helping departments shows their lasting impact on individuals’ successes post-graduation.
Dr Musarrat Jahan Yousuf, Dean of Faculty of Science at KU, acknowledges the necessity for technology across all fields and lauds Mazher-ul-Haq’s investment in new computers as an alignment with contemporary needs crucial not only to her department but also universally.
Alumni sharing his journey: “Graduates from my department have left their mark worldwide, bringing honor back home.” He expresses gratitude for the KU and encourages more contributions citing that every little helps including small gestures like donating computers as invaluable investments into education.
