Water Woes Continue Despite Repair Completion in Karachi’s Clifton, Other Affected Areas
Karachi: Residents continue to face water shortages despite repairs on the crucial 84-inch water main along University Road.
The city has been without sufficient water supply for over a week due to burst pipes and ensuing flooding.
While KWSC set a deadline of 72 hours for repair work, it took an additional seven days as the main line was damaged in another section nearby.
The company announced that the water supply has been restored from Dhabeji Pumping Station.
KWSC official assures residents early restoration of water to localities affected by the crisis.
Residents in Clifton, Lyari, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, Burns Road, and old city areas are still enduring shortages.
Similarly, Landhi and Korangi residents also suffer from water scarcity due to the closure of their hydrants.
The disruption started last Monday when work commenced on the BRT project’s water main repair.
KWSC advised the public to conserve water during this period.
Almost 50% of repairs were completed, but further damage was found and fixed within a short time.
Chief Engineer Zafar Paleejo confirmed that supply was restored by evening.
The BRT project’s construction workers caused delays due to debris in the pipes; multiple meetings with authorities did not resolve this issue.
Repair work on the 84-inch main, which had been damaged several times before, resumed promptly after water was disconnected.
